Experiencing God's Will - Week Five
"Winning the Battle of Your Mind"
Step Five / Week Five
Winning the Battle
Of Your Mind
Day One
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.” (2 Corinthians 10:3–6, KJV 1900)
Here we are reminded of a battle that is going on and that the battlefield is our mind. The way to win the battle is to pay close attention to our thoughts and being always ready to deal with any thoughts that are in opposition to God.
As we continue to seek to experience the blessedness of God’s will, we must realize that the battle is won or lost in our minds and to be quick to confess any sinful thoughts before they become actions.
Prayer Suggestions
Ask God to reveal to you any areas in your life that are worldly or sinful and confess them in prayer.
Ask God to help you to realize when your mind is wandering from Him and His path of righteousness.
Continue to ask God to help you to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and to allow Him to have His way with you.

Day Two
“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.” (Romans 8:5, KJV 1900)
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” (John 3:6)
Here we find that the believer has two natures, a carnal (fleshly) nature, and a spiritual nature. Because the believer has the Holy Spirit within, he or she is already equipped to win the battle of the mind. We must simply learn to allow the Holy Spirit to have His way with us.
Prayer Suggestions
Continue to ask God to reveal to you any areas in your life that are worldly or sinful.
Continue to confess any known sins or worldliness and ask for forgiveness.
Continue to ask God to help you to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and to allow Him to have His way with you and to always have first place in your heart.

Day Three
“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” (1 Corinthians 15:33, KJV)
Here we see that to be transformed, we must keep our minds clear from evil communications. Whether it is television, radio or people around us. We need to realize that if we allow evil things to enter our minds, they will corrupt our minds. We are warned to not be deceived about this, because it is easy to fall into a rut of worldliness and relax towards it corrupt influence.
As we set out to experience the blessedness of God’s will, let’s do our best to keep our minds pure and clean, and to be a place that God is pleased to dwell.

Day Four
“That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;” (Ephesians 4:22–23)
The word “conversation” here, speaks our “walking around” or our “conduct”. Again we are reminded that our transformation is a two-part process. There is a putting off or separating ourselves from corruptness and allowing the Holy Spirit to renew our minds.
Prayer Suggestions
Continue to ask God to reveal to you any areas in your life or mind that are worldly or sinful and confess them in prayer.
Continue to ask God to help you to realize when your mind is wandering from Him and His path of righteousness.
Continue to ask God to help you to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and to allow Him to have His way with you and to always have first place in your heart.

Day Five
“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” (Romans 8:6)
The primary focus here is the strong contrast between the believing and unbelieving mind. “Death” here implies separation from God. This can be on many levels. We know that the “second death” is eternal separation from God. But, on a lesser level, the idea of separation still applies. If we focus our mind on carnal things, we cannot experience the fullness of God’s presence in our lives. But if we focus on spiritual things, we can enjoy the fullness of God’s abundant life and peace!

Day Six
“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:3)
Here we are reminded that there is someone who is actively working to corrupt our minds, that old serpent, the Devil. We must continually guard our minds from his attacks. We must realize that when he is out there to make us doubt the Word of God.
The best protection is to be familiar with the Bible, and when the attacks come, counter the Devil’s lies with God’s truth. This is what Jesus did in the wilderness of temptation, setting the great example for us!
Prayer Suggestions
Ask God to reveal to you any areas in your life or mind that are worldly or sinful and confess them in prayer.
Ask God to help you to realize when your mind is wandering from Him and His path of righteousness.
Continue to ask God to help you to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and to allow Him to have His way with you.

Day Seven
“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.” (Matthew 22:38, KJV)
Here we find that our love to God is most important. This love is from the heart, soul and mind. We are not only to be quick to deal with sin that enters our mind, but we are to be quick to focus our minds towards our love for Christ.
As we seek to be transformed, we must constantly direct our love to where it belongs – the Lord Jesus Christ!
